This route examines the arrival in Italy during the sixteenth century and the subsequent circulation of a group of pre-Hispanic Mesoamerican artifacts, primarily pictorial manuscripts, mosaics, gilded spearthrowers, and stone sculptures. The route guides the reader along a five-century itinerary in which the social lives of these Mesoamerican objects intersect with those of prominent Italian scholars and collectors.
